Debye temperature of iron nanoparticles: Finite-size effects in the scaling regime

چکیده

The Debye temperature ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Theta}}}_{\mathrm{D}}$ characterizes the vibrations of a solid and marks transition between quantized classical behaviors nuclear motion. While thermodynamical theories suggest that for nanoparticles should be lower than bulk limit increase with increasing nanoparticle size, various experimental measurements have reported intriguing variations including values above possibly decreasing size. In this paper we theoretically determined iron up to about 7 nm diameter at atomistic level detail, using complementary approaches based on equilibrium heat capacity or mean-square atomic displacement. Both methods consistently indicate steady finite-size effects in scaling regime, no evidence higher varying opposite ways, but they also produce marked quantitative differences. Further comparison melting ${T}_{m}$ indicates two quantities correlate each other through ${T}_{m}\ensuremath{\propto}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Theta}}}_{\mathrm{D}}^{\ensuremath{\alpha}}$, an exponent $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ close 3 deviates from expected value 2 predict pure ingredients.

General Considerations on the Finite-Size Corrections for Coulomb Systems in the Debye–Hückel Regime

We study the statistical mechanics of classical Coulomb systems in a low coupling regime (Debye–Hückel regime) in a confined geometry with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We use a method recently developed by the authors which relates the grand partition function of a Coulomb system in a confined geometry with a certain regularization of the determinant of the Laplacian on that geometry with Dir...

Finite-Size Corrections for Coulomb Systems in the Debye–Hückel Regime

It has been argued that for a finite two-dimensional classical Coulomb system of characteristic size R, in its conducting phase, as R → ∞ the total free energy (times the inverse temperature β) admits an expansion of the form: βF = AR +BR+ 1 6 χ lnR, where χ is the Euler characteristic of the manifold where the system lives. The first two terms represent the bulk free energy and the surface fre...

environmental effects of gol-e-gohar iron ore mine on groundwater of the area

gol-e-gohar iron ore mine of sirjan in southern part of iran is a large open pit that operates below the groundwater table and during mining operation, dewatering is required to prevent operation processes from flooding. current operation is going on by digging wells in or out of the pit and pumping to prevent flooding. as a result of the former dewatering operation a vast deep cone of depressi...

Debye Screening at Finite Temperature , Revisited ∗ )

We present an alternative way to calculate the screening of the static potential between two charges in (non)abelian gauge theories at high temperatures. Instead of a loop expansion of a gauge boson self-energy, we evaluate the energy shift of the vacuum to order e 2 after applying an external static magnetic field and extract a temperature-and momentum-dependent dielectric permittivity. The Ha...
